In het havengebied van Geldermalsen (NL) is een horecagelegenheid gerealiseerd die de verschillende gebieden in de omgeving (centrum, park, haven) met elkaar verbindt. De rivier de Linge is een kenmerkend onderdeel van de gemeente West Betuwe en verbindt de 16 kernen, waaronder Geldermalsen, met elkaar. Het restaurant vormt een visuele en fysieke verbinding met de Linge, waarbij de rivier zowel op als in het gebouw terugkomt. Het gebouw fungeert als landmark en herkenningspunt in de omgeving en zelfs daarbuiten. Het gebouwconcept is gebaseerd op twee stedenbouwkundige assen die beide gericht zijn op het creëren van verbinding met de Linge. De eerste as is een doorkijk naar de rivier, waardoor er vanuit het centrum een visuele verbinding ontstaat met de waterkant. De tweede as is een boulevard langs de haven die doorloopt naar de Heemtuin. Op het kruispunt van deze twee assen ligt de horecagelegenheid. In de gebouwvorm smelten de twee gebieden samen door middel van een groene as, die fungeert als een brug tussen het centrum, de Linge en de haven. Deze groene as is niet alleen terug te vinden in de gevel en het groene dak, maar loopt ook door in het interieur van het gebouw. Het gebouw omarmt de haven en het park, waardoor er vanuit alle richtingen een prachtig uitzicht is. De opgetilde gevelhoeken versterken de openheid van het gebouw naar de haven en het park toe. Hierdoor ontstaat er een sterke connectie tussen binnen en buiten, waarbij de omgeving als het ware naar binnen wordt gehaald. Het kronkelen van de Linge komt terug in de houten gevel van het gebouw, wat zorgt voor een vriendelijk en uitnodigend uiterlijk. Met zijn verfijnd industriële uitstraling vormt het gebouw een prachtige tegenstelling tot de historische kerk, waardoor een mooi samenspel ontstaat.

A hospitality establishment has been realized in the harbor area of Geldermalsen (NL) that connects the different areas in the surroundings (center, park, harbor) with each other. The river Linge is a characteristic part of the municipality of West Betuwe and connects the 16 villages, including Geldermalsen, with each other. The restaurant forms a visual and physical connection with the Linge, with the river appearing both on and in the building. The building functions as a landmark and point of recognition in the surroundings and even beyond. The building concept is based on two urban axes that are both aimed at creating a connection with the Linge. The first axis is a vista towards the river, creating a visual connection with the waterfront from the center. The second axis is a boulevard along the harbor that continues to the Heemtuin(park). The restaurant is located at the intersection of these two axes. In the building form, the two areas blend together through a green axis, which serves as a bridge between the center, the Linge, and the harbor. This green axis is not only reflected in the facade and green roof, but also extends into the interior of the building. The building embraces the harbor and the park, providing a beautiful view from all directions. The raised corners of the facade enhance the openness of the building towards the harbor and the park, creating a strong connection between inside and outside, where the surroundings are brought inside the building. The meandering of the Linge is reflected in the wooden facade of the building, creating a friendly and inviting appearance. With its refined industrial aesthetic, the building forms a beautiful contrast to the historic church, creating a harmonious interplay.
